the old Bridge to Cokeville
Above on the massive bridge abutment is STG Boy no1 also taking photos of the former bridge to Cokeville. To get to it, you take Johnson Avenue south in Blairsville, turn right onto Wilkinson Alley then head south past the ball fiels on the old cement roadbed.
If you compare the 1908 and 1986 USGS maps below, you can see the extent of the new floodplain created by the Army Corps of Engineers' Conemaugh Flood Control project of the late 1940's. Cokeville - GONE. Bairdstown ( in the upper left ) - GONE. Livermore - GONE. PA Route 271 became the southern egress from Blairsville.

Here is a look south on Cokeville Road to the bridge abutment.
Now you are on top of the abutment.
This photo makes me feel like I am in the Yucatan looking at a sacrificial altar of the Mayans. STG Boy no2 left a sacrificial gift to the left of the abutment.
Cross this part of the river and you are in Cokeville !
