Dorothea PA

between Latrobe and St. Vincent College

I am not sure how to resolve the fact that the female name of this coal patch town has been spelled "Doratha", "Dorothy" and "Dorothea", but  I like the latter. The village is still there, but the ovens line the hillside behind an industrial park. note you can see how the PRR mainline was straightened around 1900.

                          

 

We are driving into the industrial park, headed east, from PA 981. A few of these businesses are joining "stuff that's gone" unfortunately.

There they are... peeking out !!!
