This is the Livermore PA Pennsylvania Railroad station west of Blairsville in 1908. It is now underwater, sacrificed to a Corps of Engineers flood project..

Below, a 2008 Google aerial photo and the 1902 USGS map, show what used to be the town and the 3 alignments of the PRR.

The map below is from the Westmoreland County Atlas of 1876. Note that the Railroad is labeled " N.W.", because this map is before the PRR consolidated its many acquisitions and subsidiaries under one name. N.W> was the North West Railroad Co. We will be visiting this site on foot this winter. Quoth the raven, "Livermore". :)

Livermore PA

This bird's eye view courtesy of Microsoft Virtual Earth clearly shows the alignment #1 and alignment #2 bridge piers / bridge. Livermore is the large puddle on the right.

Riding on the bike trail which crosses the #2 bridge is an amazing feeling of "solid".

Also, here is a last look at Livermore from the air in 1941 before it was wiped off the face of the earth by the Corps of Engineers. You can still see alignment #1 defined by the row of trees.

And this is Livermore today.
